Go to the top of Table Mountain <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Visiting Table Mountain<\/a> is a must-do for every traveler visiting Cape Town! It\u2019s probably the city\u2019s most famous attraction, and the views from the top are absolutely amazing. You can see the whole city and right along the Cape Peninsula. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nYou can either hike up Table Mountain or take the cable car. If you want to hike alone, it\u2019s best to take the Platteklip Gorge route to the top, which starts near the lower cable car station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The hike takes around two hours, and ends near the upper cableway, so you can always ride back down instead. There are always lots of people doing this hike so it\u2019s the safest route for solo travelers to take to the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course, you can just catch the cable car instead! It\u2019s R395 ($21.50) return in the morning or R340 ($18.50) in the afternoon. If you hike up, you can buy a one-way ticket down at the top for R220 ($12). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s a cafe, restaurant, and gift shop at the top. There are also lots of information plaques where you can learn about the Cape Floral Kingdom, and free guided walks depart on the hour, every hour from 9 am until 3 pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Join a free walking tour of Bo Kaap <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Bo Kaap is Cape Town\u2019s most Insta-famous neighborhood thanks to its brightly colored houses. The neighborhood was initially built for freed slaves and tradesmen, who began painting their houses bright colors so that their customers could find them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the Clifton beaches are equally beautiful, but they don\u2019t get as crowded as Camps Bay beach. If you want to swim, you can always ask a nearby sunbather to keep an eye on your stuff. The water\u2019s too cold to stay in for long, anyway! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry to the beach costs R176 ($9.60) for adults and R88 ($4.80) for kids, and it\u2019s well worth it to see these birds up close. Their story is also pretty incredible. The colony was down to just 2 mating pairs in the 1980s, but it has grown back to 3,000 birds thanks to local conservation efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Go on a safari at the Aquila Game Reserve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If you don\u2019t have time to fly all the way to the Kruger National Park to go on a South African safari, then you can visit a game reserve on a day trip from Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chapman\u2019s Peak Scenic Drive <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If you\u2019re renting a car in Cape Town, make sure to drive along Chapman\u2019s Peak Road. It\u2019s an incredibly beautiful drive that offers amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean, Hout Bay, and the red, rocky cliffs of Chapman\u2019s Peak Mountain. In fact, it\u2019s so spectacular that several movie scenes and commercials have been shot here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The drive begins in Hout Bay Harbour, which is about 20 minutes north of Camps Bay, and ends in the beautiful suburb of Noordhoek. It\u2019s only 9 kilometers (5.5 miles) long in total but you\u2019ll need to take it slow because there are so many twists and turns along the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
You should check if the road is open or not because for safety reasons it often closes during bad weather. There\u2019s also a toll fee of R57 to access the road, and make sure you keep your receipt for the drive back! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camps Bay <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Camps Bay is a beautiful and very upscale part of Cape Town that\u2019s known for its mountain views, popular beach, and the vibrant Victoria Road strip. The strip runs parallel to the beach and is home to many of the city\u2019s top restaurants and bars, so this neighborhood is an excellent place to stay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
