My Stay at Twinpalms Phuket, a Tropical Paradise in Surin Beach

After my solo trip to Bangkok, I headed over to Phuket and stayed at Twinpalms Phuket, a stylish 5-star boutique resort located in the hippest neighborhood on the island, Surin Beach.

I was meant to stay here with a friend, but unfortunately, she wasn’t able to make it last-minute. Solo travel is not a new concept to me, but I’d never stayed at a luxury place all on my own, so I’ll admit I was a bit nervous (but then again, it’s always a good thing to get out of your comfort zone when traveling, right?). Luckily, the team always made me feel right at home. Plus, having that massive king size bed all to myself was heaven!

As soon as I entered the resort, I was greeted with a refreshing cocktail before getting a selection of pillow types and room scents to choose from. Everything about this hotel is special, but one of the things I appreciated the most was how they take care of every detail to make you feel as pampered as possible.

This resort is perfect for a romantic escape to Phuket, but I could also imagine it’s the ideal go-to for a girls’ getaway (Surin Beach is THE hotspot of Phuket). If you’re in dire need of some alone time, though, this is an insanely private place to get just that. I loved lounging by the pool or enjoying the views from my balcony while reading a book.

Staying here really gives you that feeling of being away from everything, and even though Phuket is a destination with plenty to do, there’s nothing like having such a tranquil and secluded place to relax in.

Twinpalms Phuket is made up of all things wonderful, but my favorite was definitely its lagoon-style pool that spans almost the entire property. The pool is lined by gardens and palm trees, and of course, there’s a bar on the ground, so you never have to stray too far to get a cocktail or snack.

Facilities

Even though Twinpalms Phuket is relatively small, it doesn’t lack facilities.

There’s a spa on the premises, where I got the best massage I’ve had in my life. I’d been traveling non-stop for a while and my lower back was suffering the consequences. I told the masseuse about my back pain woes, and she made sure to make it feel like new!

There’s also a small but super well-equipped gym, which I used every morning during my stay here. Moreover, they feature a modern library with a generous selection of titles to choose from.

At the pool, you’ll find the Pool Bar, where you can grab a quick bite or order all sorts of tropical cocktails. Breakfast is served at the adjoining Oriental Spoon (I’ll talk more about this gem of a restaurant below!). Plus, every day around midday, there’s a complimentary fruit buffet waiting for you!

Aside from that, Twinpalms offers a pretty extensive portfolio of restaurants and beach clubs all over the area, which you can easily get to by using their free shuttle service.

The neighborhood

Twinpalms Phuket is set on Surin Beach, which is THE place to see and be seen – so much that it’s often referred to as “millionaires’ row”. It’s hip and trendy while still remaining much more laid-back than places like Patong and Karon.

If you’re feeling like partying, there’s plenty of beach clubs around, but you also won’t have trouble finding serene locations if a relaxing vacation if what you’re after. Plus, despite the fact that it’s definitely a sought-after spot in Phuket, it still has that local vibe going on, which you’ll hardly find in other destinations around the island.

Dining

Ah! I know I said before that the pool was my favorite thing about Twinpalms, but that’s only because I wasn’t thinking about food! Twinpalms boasts an extensive portfolio of dining venues and beach clubs, all of which are either set around the hotel or a short drive away (they offer free shuttles, so you don’t have to worry much about the logistics of getting here). Here are just a few of the venues they have to offer:

Oriental Spoon

Oriental Spoon is an airy restaurant and trending venue in Surin. It’s attached to the resort and this is where I had breakfast every morning. One of the things I really appreciated about the buffet was how big their selection of food was, with plenty of vegetarian options for me to choose from. Another thing I loved? Their smoothie bar and a scrumptious selection of bread! After eating so much, you’ll want nothing else than to grab a chair by the pool and take a nap under the shades of the palm trees.

Catch Beach Club

Catch Beach Club is one of the hot spots in the area, so an afternoon spent here is a must. Set on Bang Tao Beach, this trendy venue is home to a Raw Bar for seafood enthusiasts, but it does also offer some vegetarian options. All meals are paired with Champagne and Rosé wine, of course!

[easy-image-collage id=11174]

You can easily spend the entire day (and night!) at Catch, either by getting a beach chair or booking yourself a cabana by the pool. The beach club features a hip vibe during the day, but it’s one of the coolest nightlife venues in Phuket if a fun night out is what you’re after!

Shimmer Beachfront Restaurant

Shimmer is set in the sister property of Twinpalms Phuket – Twinpalms MontAzure, and it’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner on the beach.

The food here focuses on Thai cuisine, but you’ll also find plenty of international options on their menu. It also features a smoothie bar offering all sorts of tropical flavors. I loved each restaurant on the Twinpalms menu, but this was probably one of my favorites as I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere!

[easy-image-collage id=11179]

Shimmer is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I definitely recommend coming here right before sunset so you can enjoy some seriously amazing views with acoustic live music playing in the background.

Wagyu Steakhouse

I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find much to eat here because I’m a vegetarian, but I actually had the BEST Caesar’s salad I’ve had in my life at this steakhouse. I know…. the irony! Plus, their selection of fine wines and cheese to complement your meal is out of this world. It also boasts a bar that offers handcrafted cocktails if you’re in the mood for a drink in a stylish atmosphere.

[easy-image-collage id=11180]

Wagyu Steakhouse is the newest addition to the Twinpalms portfolio, and it’s attached to the property, which makes it a perfect place if you don’t feel like taking a shuttle.

[easy-image-collage id=11181]

I really enjoyed staying at Twinpalms Phuket. It was the perfect place to unwind and forget about the world for a little while. The team on the ground really has a way to make you feel like home with non-stop pampering, and the food was simply out of this world. My only regret was not lingering here a while longer, but I’m sure I’ll be back!
