10. Valley of Fire

Valley of Fire State Park, located about an hour northeast of Las Vegas, is definitely worth the drive from the city, with vibrant cliffs and sandstone formations of orange, red, and pink hues that date all the way back to the Jurassic period.

There’s plenty of Instagrammable locations in the park. For example, one of the most famous views is Rainbow Vista, which provides a unique perspective of Mouse Tank Road, a long and straight road that cuts directly through the park’s towering orange cliffs.

To access this viewpoint, snag a spot at the Rainbow Vista parking lot and walk 0.5 miles up the pile of boulders to the overlook to take in the iconic view of the road.

Alternatively, one of the most famous hikes in the park is The Fire Wave, a rock formation with dizzying swirls of white and orange striations, similar to the much more famous (and much more difficult to visit) Wave formation in Arizona.

The Fire Wave is accessed via an easy 1.5-mile out and back trail that leads you to arguably the most jaw-dropping view in the park.

There’s also other places in the park that fly a bit under-the-radar, but are nevertheless worth stopping at.

For example, the White Dome Trail provides a little bit of everything, from sandstone buttes to natural arches and slot canyons, with each step more picturesque than the rest.

Just be sure to give yourself plenty of time in Valley of Fire—there’s lots to see (and take photos of!) in this beautiful park!

11. Red Rock Canyon

If you enjoy photography and are planning a trip to Vegas, you have to put the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area on your itinerary!

One of the easiest day trips from Vegas you can do, Red Rock Canyon is less than a 30-minute drive from the Strip, so it’s easy to get there for golden hour (or even sunrise, if you wish) without having to wake up TOO early on vacation.

Red Rock Canyon is, simply put, a gorgeous natural area. As the name suggests, the park is full of astonishingly beautiful red streaked (and red) rock formations, which make for stunning photos any time of day but especially at sunrise, when the sun’s rays cast a golden glow on the rocks, making for an otherworldly landscape.

You’ll also find desert flora and fauna to photograph in the park, and you’ll find seasonal waterfalls in Ice Box Canyon within the park.

You can traverse the park on a one-way scenic driving loop, which makes it easy to go from one photo location to another. The drive is open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. everyday.

And if you want to get some close-up shots, you can hike into some of the rock formations, to capture the play of light and shadow.

There is an entrance fee of $20.00 per vehicle at the time of writing, or you can use your America the Beautiful National Parks Pass if you have one!

12. Zion National Park

Hop in your car in Las Vegas and drive for about two hours until you find the one and only, Zion National Park.

After all, this place is part of the famous Mighty Five and is easily one of the most stunning national parks in the entire country since it is known for its incredible red cliffs.

So, while you’re here be sure to do the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive before checking out the idyllic Emerald Pools that will give you access to local waterfalls and an awesome hanging garden.

And if you only do one hike in the area, make it the legendary Zion Narrows trail that takes you through deep canyons where you have to wade through water.

However, if you’re looking for some of the best Las Vegas Instagram spots that you cannot beat taking a photo at Canyon Junction Bridge so that you can snap a pic with Watchman Mountain during sunrise.

You can also head to Canyon Overlook to get a wicked awesome panorama of Zion Canyon with a ton of switchbacks in the background.

Just be aware that this spot gets oversaturated with light during the day. Therefore, it’s best to visit on a cloudy day or to stop by at either sunrise or sunset for the best lighting possible.

Finally, head to the Court of the Patriarchs and photograph the most famous collection of sandstone cliffs in the park. After all, it’s the perfect place to do a bit of landscape photography before you enjoy sunset in Zion National Park.

Best Time of Day for Instagram Photos in Las Vegas

When it comes to capturing stunning photos in Las Vegas, timing is everything.

The best time of day for photos depends on what you want to capture and the type of atmosphere you’re looking for.

Here are some tips to help you get the best shots:

Morning

If you’re an early bird, the morning is a great time to capture some amazing photos.

The soft light at sunrise creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for capturing the beauty of the Las Vegas Strip. You can also avoid the crowds that tend to gather later in the day.

Midday

If you want to capture the vibrant energy of Las Vegas, midday is the perfect time. The bright sunlight can create dramatic shadows and add depth to your photos.

However, keep in mind that the harsh sunlight can also wash out colors and create unflattering shadows. Try to find shaded areas or use a diffuser to soften the light.

Sunset

The golden hour, the time just before sunset, is a favorite among photographers for a reason. The soft, warm light creates a stunning backdrop for your photos.

The Las Vegas Strip lights up as the sun sets, creating a magical atmosphere that’s perfect for capturing the city’s energy.

Night

Las Vegas truly comes alive at night, and it’s the perfect time to capture the city’s electric energy. The bright lights and neon signs create a vibrant backdrop for your photos.

However, keep in mind that low light conditions can make it challenging to capture sharp, clear photos. Use a tripod and experiment with different shutter speeds to get the best shots.
